CARTOON NETWORK- India’s Favorite Cartoon Channel

One of the most prominent children television channels is Cartoon Network. Almost every child has their plans set to watch their show. The most popular shows usually run from 5 pm to 7 pm as it is the time when children are at home and have the time to watch the shows. Cartoon Network came to India in 1995 as a 24-hour channel. The various languages in which it was available in English, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.

When the channel first aired, almost all shows were enjoyed by children. A few notable mentions are The Flinstones, Yogi Bear, and Scooby Doo. The most popular two shows that used to air in the 5 pm slot were Tom & Jerry and Popeye the Sailor Man.


Tom and Jerry was a show about a cat and a mouse. The cat, Tom was always looking to annoy Jerry the mouse by trying to lure Jerry out of his hole and chasing him around and various different scenarios. Absolutely funny, this show brings people to tears with its gimmicks.

Popeye the Sailor Man was the propagator of Spinach. The show was about how in multiple scenarios Popeye ate Spinach and solved most of the problems. Like saving Olive Oyl and beating up Brutus the imposter.

Powerpuff Girls

An experimental mishap led to the birth of three cute little girls at a scientist’s lab. He named them Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. Each of them possesses a superpower and individualistic persona and the ability to fly. With these superpowers, they save their city from the bad monsters who try to break the peace.

Roll No. 21

This series is a completely new take on the life of Lord Krishna. Using his persona and historical tales as a reference, the character “Kris” has been created. Notorious but kind and helpful, the series revolves around Kris and how he helps his friends from being bullied and wards evil spirits away.

Ben 10

Speaking of spirits, Ben 10 is a show loved by many children too. Ben, a simple schoolboy gets a watch that lets his body transform into 10 different alien avatars. With this boon, he tries to ward off wrongdoers.


Ash Ketchup has set some unrealistically high goals for young kids. A tale of a young boy who leaves his home and travels the world to capture pokemon and become the greatest pokemon trainer in history. His journey alone teaches him a lot of different values and his relationship with his pokemon are what great friendships look like.


The other duel-oriented show that gained popularity around the same time Pokemon did was Beyblade. The show revolved around Tyson, a simple beyblader who gets blessed with a spirit Beyblade called Dragoon. It is believed that Beyblade with the power of the spirits is amongst the ablest players of the league. They are called bit beasts. Two beybladers go head to head and compete in tournaments to raise their social status and display their dignity and honor for the sport.
