The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is an American classic novel by the famous author Mark Twain. It is an old English novel, published first in the United Kingdom in December 1884 and then in the United States in February 1885. Huckleberry Finn is a sequel to The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is named among the Great American Novels and it truly deserves that position. It still continues to receive wide critical appreciation.

The main protagonist of the story is a young teenage lad named Huckleberry Finn and the novel is written in a first person narrative format narrated by Huckleberry himself. In the beginning, we see that Huck has earned a fortune of $6000 with his friend Tom Sawyer in their previous adventures. Huck lives with a widow and her sister Miss Watson. They have decided to make him a civilized citizen by sending him to school and teaching him religion. Initially, he has difficulty in adjusting to the school environment but then he starts enjoying it. One night while Huck is involved with Tom Sawyer’s gang when his abusive alcoholic father kidnaps him, and takes him away to an isolated cabin in Illinois shoreline. His father has come to know about the money he has earned and thereby Huck is tortured and beaten up. But one day with great difficulty, he manages to escape from the tangle of his abusive drunkard father and flees off to Jackson Island where he meets Jim. Jim had been Miss Watson’s slave and had escaped since she was planning to sell him off to cruel owners. Jim and Huck bond quite well and together they face all the situations that come. There are lot many adventures further in the book. It happens so that after someone sells Jim after a deal breaks apart, Huck again unites with Tom and together they plan out on how to free Jim. Huckleberry Finn turns out to be an amazing and engrossing novel with an impressive plot.
