The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the third book of the seven book series of “The Chronicles of Narnia” written by C.S. Lewis. Lewis has been a prominent children’s writer with his most loved book being “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe“. Most of the children have read this book and those who have not, have definitely watched the movie. Then what about the other six books? Well, it seems the author has been equally successful in writing the other books of the series. Yet again he has showcased his vivid imagination and created an absolutely fantastic fiction novel. “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” was published in the year 1952 by George Bles and the illustrator being Pauline Baynes. The novel has been adapted into a movie in the year 2010 and even as a television series of four episodes in the year 1989.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has the four siblings as it is and their cousin as well. This time the four are separated. Edmund and Lucy are set to spend the vacations with their repugnant cousin named Eustace Scrubb, Peter is with Professor Kirke and Lucy is with her parents in America. There is an instance when Lucy and Edmund are busy discussing a painting of a ship hanging in her room and how it constantly reminds Lucy of Narnia when Eustace interrupts. It is then when abruptly all three of them are pulled inside the painting. They land on “The Dawn Treader,” the ship of Caspian X, known as Prince Caspian in the previous book. Caspian is Lucy and Edmund’s old friend. Along with him, they meet their other friends like the talking mouse, Reepicheep too. All of the sailors force the three children to join their expedition. Initially, Eustace is reluctant but he has no other option left. All of them begin their expedition and they have a paramount task in their hands, to help Caspian find the seven lost Lords of Narnia. In their way to accomplishing the mission, they have to face precarious situations and numerous hurdles. Will they be able to avoid them and reach their destination? After they complete the mission successfully, they have another important decision to make that whether they want to go back to Narnia or want to travel to the end of the world in search of Aslan, the mighty lion king.

The plot of the novel is excellent and will be absolutely loved by everyone who likes magic and fantasy. It seems the author has penned down another impeccably well-written fiction novel with great intricacy. The characters chosen are just what children would love to read about. There are mysterious creatures and magical land and a great story accompanies all of this. Lewis has again shown us the great message of friendship, loyalty, and bravery through his novel. He has depicted that there is goodness in every person; it just needs to shine out. The novel thereby turns out to be an impeccable work of fiction, and all the children out there should undoubtedly add it to their shelf.
